I heard it through the grapevine

Some of you might have read that Warner Brothers are trying to revive the Superman movie franchise. Apparently, a few names were mentioned from Ashton Kutcher (yes, Kelso from "That 70's Show") to Brendan Frasier. I'm not too sure if they ever thought of Keanu Reeves. I mean, just look at this picture. I can already see the cape and the big S.

Neo

I must say I'm not keen on a return to the franchise or the Batman one as well (starring Christian Bale as the Dark Knight). Why don't they do a Green Lantern or the Flash? Anyway, Wonder Woman is currently being developed by Joel Silver, producer of the Matrix.

Return of the King
I can't fucken wait...

This looks like a piece of turd to me...

Cold Creek Manor

Cold Creek Manor
Sharon Stone expresses horror at how low her career has sunk.

There s/he goes again...

I'm confused most of the time but not as much as my membersss,
Sujin here. He needs to see a shrink soon or basically the Mount Elizabeth sex change surgeon. Look what he posted on his blog. Chekkit.

Sorry, Auntie Thomas, your son turned out this way. He's in denial ever since he refused to pass me his Tech 21 GT2.

Everything that has a beginning has an end... Reloaded

Just watched the Matrix Revolutions last night with a coupla my army mates and famed (hehehe...) Seedbed-cum-Spooning With Satan guitarist, Alvin Ananthan. And not to worry, this article will not contain any spoilers as I know there are a couple of you guys out there who haven't watched it yet.

As usual, Melvin was bitching about how the slo-mo action sequences look lame and dated. Presumably so, it drew quite a few chuckles in the theatres while Carrie-Ann Moss did her gravity-defying tumbles and kicks in the air. But what impressed me and Roy the most was Monica Bellucci's (yeah, baby, yeah... ) fearsome twins were in that gravity-defying push-up. Fierce. Me likes.

Thankfully, they cut down the philosophical mumbo-jumbo to the minimum this time. The Matrix Reloaded was like a fucken bad episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion all over again ("Where am I? How do I know I exist? Can existence be ever proven?" Me:"Hell, you'd know about existence by eating my fist for dinner, bitch!!!"). The bulk of it was pure action which it was all good. Not too draggy and not too overwrought.

However, knowing the Wachowski brothers, there were a couple of stinkers and cheese. You have to watch for yourselves and laugh. Melvin (cuz he was sitting beside me) was sniggering away when Hugo Weaving aka Agent Smith started spouting his smock of philosophical crap. My membersss... was laughing away at how it seemed so contrived and forced. It just didn't seem right to him. Just like how Michael Jackson forces his arguements that he didn't bleach his skin. (Now, that's a joke that seems forced)

However, I think that it's an apt ending for the series and the brothers have decided that there would be no more sequels. Mercifully. They won't have to stoop to the lows of the Alien franchise. Alien 3 was bad but Alien: Resurrection was pointless, especially without the animatronics of the creature. But I digress.

The series have been called the thinking man's action movie. Rightfully so. But in my opinion, the Wachowski brothers' greatest coup was that they managed to create a movie that engages the viewers in so many ways. Each individual one believes that their perception and understanding of the movie has been the correct one. Perhaps, even reflecting the source (heh...) of the movie itself where the Matrix is a perception of reality. In viewing the movie, everyone has their own take on what is happening and that alone is a Matrix that you build around your understanding of the movie.

Oh my gawd!!! I'm stooping to mumbo jumbo bullshit again... The virus is inflectin' me...

In any case, before I end this, I'd like to give out one teeny-weeny bit of spoiler. For those of you who told me that when Neo returned to the real world in the Matrix Reloaded, he was still stuck in the Matrix as with everyone and there is no such real world. Everything was the Matrix and that's why he was able to control the machines in the real world. Well, guys, you were WRONG!!! You morons, hahaha....

Weirdest e-bay post I've seen in a while...

Chekkit. This page on e-bay has this guy selling his friendship. Ah, post-modern life...

I didn't bite the Apple of Eden...

Read this on Gracie's blog . She's a Mac user... Snide if you ask me.

At the beginning God created the Bit and the Byte. And from those He created the word. And there were 2 bytes in a word, nothing else was there. Then God seperated 0 from 1 and saw that this was good.

And then God said "Let there be Data", and so it became. And He said "Let the Data go where they belong", and He made floppy disks, compact disks and hard disks. Then God said "Let there be a place for those disks to be", and computers came to be. God named them hardware and saw that this was good.

But God saw that there was no software yet. And He made programs, small and large and He said "Go and multiply and fill all of the memory". Then God said "I'll create the programmer and he will rule upon all the data, computers and programs". And God created the programmer and placed him at the Heavenly Server. And He taught the programmer to use the catalog tree and all the files and sub-files but told him never to use Windows.

Then God thought "It isn't a good thing for the programmer to be alone. I will create a creature that will love and admire the programmer and his creations". And God created the User. And both the User and the Programmer were left upon the naked DOS and that was good.

But Bill were more cunning than the rest of God's creations. And Bill told the User "Did God really allow you to use any program that you like?". And the User said "Yes, God allows us to use any program we like except the windows for great trouble will be upon us". And Bill told the user "How you talk about something you never used? By the time you will use windows you will be able to do anything you like with a simple mouse click. You will be equal to God". And the user saw that windows were very easy to use and that all knowledge was unnecessary since they could replace it.

So it came to be that the User installed Windows in his computer and told the programmer that it was good. And the programmer start looking for new drivers. And God which saw him asked "What do you need?" and the programmer said "I need new drivers". God said "Who told you that you need new drivers, you installed windows?" and the programmer said "Bill told us to do it!".

Then God said to Bill "For what you did all the creatures will hate you. And all the users will not like you. And you will always sell windows". And then God told the user "For what you did windows will always dissapoint you and use all the resources and you will use pathetic programs, while you will always depend on the programmer for help". And last He told the programmer "Because you listened to the User your programs will always have faults and you will have to correct them until the end of days".

And God threw them out of the Heavenly Server and locked the door and secured it with password.

GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT.

Everything that has a beginning has an end...

Apparently so, according to the Wachowski brothers. And according to Ain't It Cool News, it sucks. The final episode in the trilogy that is.

So, I'm gonna catch the Matrix Revolution in like another 12 hours time. I dun thk I should get my hopes too high up. At least, I'd warned ya fans out there. Lower the bar of expectation and the disappointment would be lesser.

mp3s up on this blog

Hi all, I've just uploaded some of mp3s under the moniker of The Agents of Smith and you can download them from the column on your left.

These are tracks done using mainly on Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 and FruityLoops 2.0 and in no way, reflect the psychedelic hippydom of The 78 Love Experiment or the satanic whackiness of Spooning With Satan.

In any case, who cares?

I cannot believe this...

Those pieces of turd at the RIAA actually came up with this TV advertisement which would tickle my funny bone under other circumstances. It's a B-grade ad. for a B-grade crass movement.

Once again, I'm stuck in the office...

The joys of roaming free in the city were not meant to be for this week. I din really get the chance of walking around in town during office hours. Did that a couple of times last week though. Embassies are currently my favourite places. Went there and did some research.

So far, I've went to the Philippines Embassy which looks kinda shitty. A small hut (but I believe they are building a new one besides where it is housed at now), as compared to the fortress, Embassy of Japan opposite it. I dunno. Read somewhere (hmm, was it the CIA factfile?) that the Philippines is considered the world's most dangerous place on the planet. Which is ironical cuz hey. it's a country well known for its bands being able to ape Western musicians to the dot and of cuz, their domestic help. Sounds like a peaceful country to me.

If my memory serves me correctly, besides having shitloads of volcanoes in the region and having certain territories in the earthquake belt, the bulk of the islands are exposed to the typhoons and monsoons and all that jazz. Oh yeah, you mustn't forget the occasional Abu Sayaf attacks and the random military coup. Actually, it kinda sounds like Indonesia with more natural disasters, dun you think ?

So, here I am. Bored and stuck in the office. a) Struggling to stay awake, b) dunno what the fuck I can do and c) feeling cheated at all the hype of the Matrix Revolutions (read a little somewhere that it sucks goats balls big time.)

Think I'm gonna post something more later.

mp3 up on Sujin's blog

My membersss, Sujin and his housemate, Ferdi did a track together about 3 months ago. Go to my side column and click on the link to download his song.

Recommended books

I've realised in the past 2 years or so. I've not really sitten and read a decent book. All I read nowadays are guitar magazines, Computer Music and all those online geek sites. Now I'm wondering about the length of my attention span. Is it that short?

Damn.

In any case, if you think there are any good books out there, preferrably borrowable from the National Library, drop the titles in the comments page. Thanks.

15

Just watched the local film, "15" by Royston Tan with my mates, Jeff, Melvin and Khai yesterday. It was about a group of teenage wayward youths shot in a documentary style, based on their experiences and all.

Khai said it was very realistic while I have friends who said that "City of Gofd" was far superior. Now I din watch that so I have no grounds for comparison. However, what I'd say is that certain scenes in the movie were extremely graphic and stomach churning to me. I can't handle scenes of mutilation and all that.

At first, I thought the film was bogged down by all the excessive arty imagery and fantasy sequences. Then I took a double take as I realised that Royston Tan was working without much of a plot, just highlighting the situation and bringing us into the world of these troubled youths.

However, throughout the entire film, you get this sensation that you were not supposed to be there, watching and observing them. The audience becomes the voyeur, the observer. Fortunately, Tan's style does not judge these characters, showing them for who they are and lay out their fears of a dead-end future for all to see.

It's upsetting and disturbing to see anyone having to go through such confusion. But isn't puberty and teenhood the toughest for the most of us? Perhaps, for these kids, the wrong turn at such a young age would allow any room for them to turn back and walk the path of the straight and narrow?

I dunno. Anyway, it's pretty decent and watchable, though I won't say that it's extremely good.

Hey hey hey...

"hey hey hey...cuz' Ah'm back.. Back in black."

- AD/DC, "Back In Black"

Hi kids, miss me? Din think so.

Anyway, I'm waiting with very much abated breath for some news from
Weiyuan. Hopefully, it'd be good and comes through. Then, I can share with you guys. Wish me luck on this!!!

By the way, 3 more days til the poll for November's H.A.I.R. ends. Ask your grannies to vote as well!!

Sabbathical...

Yup, everyone needs one...

Think I'd stop blogging for a while. Haha, but you never know I might post something again like in 2 days time. Though I said I'd post the BRC series of photos up by tommorrow, it looks like I can't as I have not secured access to a scanner yet. Might have to go bug Billy again.

So what am I gonna do during this sabbathical?

Well, I guess I would spend some time ogling at girls at Orchard I should start on my sequencers and loops again. Perhaps, I'd even spend the whole weekend drinking beer at some pub (Siam Reap?) or clubbing til 7am at Centro fiddling with my Cakewalk? In addition, I think I'd be surfing loads of sites with loads of pics of scantily clad women I'd better learn some more HTML to overhaul the site, instead of some stupid new tricks like cancelling words and shit. I'm getting slightly bored with the extremely messy layout.

So the question bears: would you miss me while I'm gone?

Your answer: Yes, please don't leave.../ No, sod off...

Yeah, I thought so too.

Freestyle breaking

My friend, Jason Ong sent me this link about freestyle breaking. The last contestant is particularly gd man.

Monday Sessions at Bar None: The Observatory, Zircon Govt Pawn Stars and Stoned Revivals

After exhausting my list of people who I can call to watch last night's gig, I managed to get Chee Ken out to attend the gig together. To be honest, I think I've never seen a gig this good for ages man. Then again, I'm rather suaku as well.

The Observatory came up at 920pm and proceeded with a cover or something like that as frontman, Leslie Low was mumbling. Their music seemed to be an amalgram of slow electronic beats, fused with acoustic strumming and weird electric guitar sounds and smoothened out by synthesizers. It was rather mopey and dirgey most of the time. Well, I did like the electronic beats quite a bit. However, keyboardist Vivian Wang (A H.A.I.R. in her own right) was trudging through the whole set, ripping away too many appreggios and overcluttering the music in general. Then again, I could be biased against keyboardists or there were way too many guitars in the band (count 'em: 3). I wasn't that disappointed but I wasn't overtly impressed. Their mix of folk, electronica and bossa rhythms were intriguing, warranting a closer inspection.

After a 20 minutes break, Chris Ho aka X'Ho's reformed band, Zircon Govt. Pawn Stars made their debut live performance. I was floored man. It was really amazing, I would say. Partially, you would think folks in their mid 30's and 40's to be more sedated and acting their age. But no, X'Ho and his cohorts, Yeow (guitar and sequencing) and Suzanne Walker aka Sue Sue Law who had her low cut bra straddling outta her carefully mis-worn camisole top were rockin' the stage like 17 year old punks. Basically, X'Ho and Sue Sue Law were trying to out-diva each other with sexually suggestive moves and jumping around like it's a Linkin Park concert.

Apparently, like what X'Ho had said before, he is very inspired by Chicks On Speed. I think it shows in the set with raging electroklash anthems that would rawk any floors in clubs and sounding like Depeche Mode to boot. They added a portion of Iggy Pop and the Stooges' "I Wanna Be Your Dog" to one of their songs which X'Ho was warbling something in Thai. Highly effective. They ended their brief set with a Peaches cover which featured Iggy Pop (again!), "Kick It". That was when I was rather disappointed with X'Ho who sang Pop's parts when he self-censored the lyrics to the cover. He has championed like free speech and the absurdity of censorship and said how Singaporeans practise way too much self-censorship. Could it be a subtle in-joke of sorts or when you fight monsters, you might become one yourself eventually. I dunno man.

Coming onstage at around 12am was the Stoned Revivals who were rather inactive in the recent years. Being a huge fan of their work, I was eagerly anticipating their set. I'd always loved their Stevie Wonder-Barry White-funk-disco-psychedelic vibes. They din disappoint and started the set with 2 new tunes, played on an authentic Fender Rhodes by the band multi-instrumentalist, Syed. During the second song, singer Esam beckoned their ex-guitarist, Muneer who was in the crowd to come up on stage for a jam. It was really great to see him play with the band again. In any case, they seemed to have taken a step backward to their indie roots, washing their last few songs with the occasional bursts of metallic sheets of feedback.

It was a great and thoroughly enjoyable night. It might have been better if I were up there playing as well... Ha!

Combat Survival Training

My ex-teammate during NS for our lil recce team, Bee Thiam who is under some form of scholarship studying and working in the U.S. (Lucky bastard!!!) sent me this link from the Straits Times. It's in regard with the NSman who drowned during the Combat Surivival Training/ Prisoner Of War course.

I went through the course with those fuckers (God bless them) below in the series of pictures (BRC, Brigade Reconnaissance Company series 1). Agreeing with what George had said, this incident would cause the HPTB (Higher Powers To Be) to be more careful in their training and turn the whole army into a great bunch of sissies than what it is already now.

Well, in my memory, the CST/POW course wasn't that all out harsh, as opposed to what I read in the article. But I did hear that officers and sergeants were treated more harshly than the rest. Perhaps in this incident, it's just like a bloody recap of the Stanford Prison Experiment. The power to control some other people pushes some people right over the edge, causing all theose primal aggression and sadism that is inherently buried in all of us to emerge.

As for my case, we were all blindfolded and bound for 16 hours, kneeling on gravel which sucked. Anyway, I thought the toughest was that I had to hold my pee for that period of time as well. I think it damaged my bladder since then. Hmmm. However, what I din know was that there was so many fuckers who just peed in their pants all round me... Crap. Shouldn't had held back...

I must admit that that was the most boring part of the whole course. Did I come out a better person? Nah, I dun thk so. It just made me realise S&M was not my cup of tea, d'you know I mean?

However, in the earlier part of the week we were on Pulau Tekong on training, it was pretty fun. We killed a few chickens and frogs the Friday before and the commando staff sergeants (this HUGE Indian guy) killed like a python and a monitor lizard, demostrating to us how to kill these animals in the wild. If you ask me, the only thing he demostrated to us was that when you need to go outfield, just bring shitloads of instant noodles and luncheon meat to save the hassle of killing something you can buy in your wet market.

I said this before a thousand times and I'd say it again, smoked python meat fucken rawksss!!! It was like a huge overnight BBQ party for my Band Of Brothers. Hahaha, I heard the other groups boiled the stash of python meat that they were given. *makes a L sign on my forehead...* You know who you guys are and it doesn't extend to the BRC side exclusively. Ha! Of course, I did nothing else but cook the stuff. The culinary Force is strong within me. You should try my Chu Qian Yi Ding (instant noodles) one of these days.

Actually, for the benefit of those who didn't take the course, let's say it was like Survivor on Pulau Tekong, except there wasnt any interviews like"Melvin to the camera: Willy has done nothing but eat, cook and sleep in the camp area. I'm going to vote him out in the next Tribal Council" and of course, Tribal Councils as well. Ever wondered I rather join the Amazing Race than Survivor? Been there, done that and wore the fucken uniform.

But hey, at least, now people would really think that we went through shitloads in our CRT/POW training. Haha!!!

The next series of the BRC set of photos would be out by next Thursday. Chekkit.

New ladies added...

2 new ladies are added in the poll, H.A.I.R. of the month. Take a look.

Power naps

Wanna take a power nap in the toilet today. However, the toilet in the bloody JTC buildings have automatic flushes ...Everytime, I lean back, the thing start flushing. I can't sleep to the sound of gushing water.

The CFO in my previous company told me about the benefits of meditation. He claimed that he felt that a few minutes of meditation can suffice in place of 2 hours of sleep. I dunno about that since I never tried meditating before. The last time I saw my sis doing yoga, the ice-cream I was eating nearly went through my nose.

Perhaps, I'd try the meditating thing now. M..e..d..i..t..a...t..i..n..zzzzzz...

Fuckin' USA...

Yup, that's actually the name of a song, a North Korean one to be exact. Click on this to watch the clip. Apparently, it was broadcasted in South Korea and Japan. A reaction to Bush's foreign policy towards the North. Amazing, the word 'fuck' can be broadcasted openly in these countries with strong Asian values. Wonder what's really missing here in S'pore? More Asian values?

A friend sent me the Drink-o-meter to check how much damage we have done to ourselves by drinking.

Apparently, I'm a Homer Simpson.

Bloody 'ell, it's a Molotov Cocktail...

I was looking for a new moniker to do my so-called side project, dabbling more in sampling and electronic stuff rather than the full on pop-rock-slut-rock-funk-whatever of the 78 Love Experiment and the country-metal of Spooning With Satan (Actually, all we do in SWS are guzzle beer at Bencoolen Street Kopitiam and leer at fat-bottomed girls than anything else.)

The whole Lounge Lizard shtick hadta go. So, the genius writing this thought of something like "Molotov" as in molotov cocktail. Something short, bright and explosive. Fucken cool, innit?

Unfortunately, someone in Mexico is already using the name. Bollocks man... This sucks..

Anyway, I shouldn't even be typing this since I have nothing posted up for the record... Sigh...

My Boyz' Rockumentary...

Part of my drinking posse, Billy, Jason Siau and Gavin did their FInal Year Project together which was a rockumentary about the local music scene, "Radio Forgot To Play My Favourite Song". I've seen it. It's pretty decent. Nicely shot. However, there wasn't much content and substance to it, I felt. Then again, it might not be their fault as there could be not much to begin with in the scene in the 1st place.

Currently, I have 3 on my list and perhaps you guys out there can help me think of a few more names...?

I'm too arse to think about it anyway.

Am going to finally catch "28 Days Later" soon with Lolo who was of course disappointed with the lack of excessive and over the top gore in "Underworld". Really, Kate Beckinsale looks damn petite, barely looking as if she barely stood at 1.6 metres. How exactly petite she is; you gotta ask her husband, Len Wiseman (lucky bastard) who happens to be the director of this marginally acceptable flick. Pretty cool concept but bad execution lets it down finally.

Hmmm, I don't think I should relate the story which Bernard shared last night. Something regarding floating turds drifting along the floor of MRT station toilets. Oopsss....

Lolo was telling me last night I needed a new hobby besides drinking. Any suggestions?

Run, Lola. Run.

Happy Birthday to my mate, Jason Ong. To his credit, he got me into Centro's new offshoot club, Lola last night. There were shitloads of drinks as usual when he goes partying. Anyway, I didn't really think that Lola was that all great. Well, at least I can say that "been there, done that, bought the T-shirt".

Am I really getting old, tired of clubbing??

Going out to watch "Underworld" now. Heard bad reviews about it. Gotta prepare Bernard and Lolo for it.

The BRC series part 1

I have always hated those fucken clerks and storemen who downgraded during their National Service tenture and yet boasted about what they do in the army. Like as if filing some reports and counting some store equipment made them the most feared person in the army. You know who they are; you definitely talked to a few in your lives.

Of course, there are those who went to the Officer Cadet Course by purely academic merit without the amptitude and physical constitution to back it up. As usual, they have their own macho stories to tell about how they survived the treacherous terrains of Brunei, etc and how they suffered under the strict training while they were cadets.

However, they all are wrong... Like what my bunkmate, Cheong Ji Chung would say, "I am the most garang motherfucker in the whole SAF." And he was right. While others were living their pipe dreams of authority, we were sleeping in our bunks or lying in our hammocks outfield, cooking a pot of instant noodles under no supervision and no stress. It was like a 2 year camping trip, I'd say. Normally, that would shut the abovementioned camps up. Losers...

Anyway, these are a few photos I took when I met up with some of my army mates...

Higher Ground...

I think that in the past few posts over these 2 weeks have been way too graphic intensive. So, I guess I'd switch back to doing some text-based stuff for a while

Recently, I have been following my colleague around, running all over Singapore. Been to places that I had been before, especially all those weird industrial estates tucked in different corners of the island.

But of course, when it rains, he begins to slack as well. So, we ended up driving around aimlessly but hey, it was fun. Actually, it allowed me to see and appreciate certain things that I din even know existed in Singapore itself. Fucken frog in a well aye?

Since it was raining yesterday, my colleague went to visit his friend at the SAF Yacht Club. As usual, I tagged along. After I had a smoke, I couldn't find the bugger and started looking around for him. Standing opposite JB, it was pretty nice and rustic. Looking at waves and all that shit.

In any case, I found the bugger linefishing behind some yachts with his friend. Fucker... Then he passed a hook to me to try. It looked pretty fun and I was a fishing virgin, never touched a hook, line or sinker in my life. Was inspired by my colleague. The bugger dumped the line and within 5 seconds, caught something!!! Fuck!!! I knew I hadta try.

It was pretty simple but fun. Eh, I am an urban animal, not a kampung boy. So all this shit is new to me. I caught around like, 4 fish which I dun even know what species or breed they are. But to me, it's official... Fish are up there with chicken as the world's stupidest animals. Chickens have like a 5 seconds memory span. Sorry, Sujin. Heheheh...

I had to squat down to fish at times and my jeans was worn pretty loose. Thus, half my arse was peeking outta my jeans. Hey, it looked like as if I was moonin' Malaysia... and perhaps, my parting gift to the outgoing Prime Minister. Thought I'd just share that...

Genetic Habit

My friend, Clifton's band, Genetic Habit just got their album, "From Outside" released by BigO as part of its 18th anniversary. Congratulations man!!!

I've heard the demo EP last year. To be honest, I had mixed feelings about it. I'm not too sure if it was the production that bugged me. But I like the 5th track, "School's Out" quite a fair bit as it showcases a level of maturity in arrangement and programming on Clifton's part. I heard that he was doing some music production over the last year. So, I guess this is the fruit of his labour...

Click on the picture to read the interview he had with Bigo online.

Genetic Habit

The Not-so-Amazing Race

Me and Lolo
No, that's not a trashbin beside Lolo

The story behind this photo:
Me and my good friend, Wen Chye but everyone calls him Lolo were returning from our 12 days backpacking trip in Thailand last June. We were at the airport since 4 am waiting for our flight but we were conned by the agency which we booked our tickets. We din know we were on the waiting list, instead of getting confirmed tickets on the Air India (yes, we flew that since it was the cheapest) flight. So we hung around the airport, sleeping on our backpacks in front of the check-in counter. I know, very Amazing Race-like...

In any case, we got our seats thankfully... cuz we ran outta cash to last another day.

Lolo had too much stuff to carry in his backpack while I couldn't possibly squeeze "The Drum of Doom" (yes, it has a name...) into my backpack. So we had to hand carry our stuff onto the plane and we thought it was absolutely hilarious. However, the custom officers weren't too fazed to see two guys carrying a drum and a trashbag (that's Lolo's extra luggage). They were probably expecting nuclear arsenals or something.

I think I need to update this...

Yup, looks like I haven't updated the blog in a few days... and my head feels too giddy now to do anything. I think I should lay me down to sleep like now...

Been out the whole day. Was at Andy's place jamming. No ventilation can really fuck you up damn bad. So word of advice: dun cope youeself in a room with 5 person and smoke up the whole place til you can breathe properly... It's bad...

Oooh my head...

The 78 Love Experiment (live in NUS, Law Faculty Moot Court) photos - part 3

The last in the Moot Court Series. I'd probably start with something else soon. Perhaps, those photos I took when I backpacked to Koh Phanghan with Lolo last year.

H.A.I.R. of the month: Krista Allen

Yup, Miss Allen won this month's so-called award by a strong margin of 40%. The lovely Shannon Elizabeth got zlich votes (sigh, poor thing... ) while Namie Amuro had a paltry 4%. Though my favourite Taiwan Ah Lian, Elva Hsiao had only 22% of the votes, it wasn't enough to challenge this month's winner. That leaves Stifler's Mum aka Jennifer Coollidge to be the strongest contender at 31% and makes me wonder what kinda people I really know.

The Animal Resort

I was roaming the countryside (or whatever is left of it in Singapore) with my colleague in the company van this afternoon. We ended up in Seletar, near Jalan Kayu. We found this haven for orphaned animals and it was like a mini-zoo, the Animal Resort. Very nice and quaint.

They were selling puppies. Saw a coupla Jack Russell pups that were bouncing up and down like Gummi Bears. Damn cute... but they were damn noisy as well. Hehehe. There is a fenced up pen where a horse and 2 billy goats are residing. A small donation gets you a pack of animal feed. It's sooths to see peacocks, chickens (some looked damn weird), turkeys and geese running all over the place. (And me and my colleague were talking about where to eat roasted pigeongs in JB. Ha!!!) I believe there is an emu too. Nice. The flamingos have their own fenced area as well. The hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits are tucked away in their petting corner.

Sweet place. Wish I had the bloody transport to go back again...

Tommorrow, we shall have the last in the series for The 78 Love Experiment: Live in the Moot Court Series and of course, our Children Day's special: H.A.I.R. of November.

Stay tuned and be good little boys and little girls...

The 78 Love Experiment (live in NUS, Law Faculty Moot Court) photos - part 1

Excuse the self indulgence. But hey, this is my blog. So, where else can I wank all over the place man?

The 78 Love Experiment

I'd try to get some mp3s out in these 2 weeks... We'd see how it goes eh?

No, this is not the 78 Love Experiment...

This is actually the band that AB and Weiyuan formed in the earlier part of their NUS days, Dive. This set of photos is taken when they played in Hard Rock Cafe. I believe Kajan played in this gig as well. They did a coupla Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc covers. Hey, being the slut I am, I was a staunch supporter and went to almost every gig, along with like all of AB's gang...

Guess who...

Mascot 1

Mascot 2

While I was working in my ex-company, my ex-colleague, Max was busy with something else. He was supposed to be the guinea pig for this mascot outfit try-out. (In the 1st pic, that fat arse is his.) So, guess who had to stand in for him in the end?

It was my 1st and probably last time I tried on spandex, yes, purple spandex to be exact. I had to wear a white jumpsuit and purple spandex to don on this mascot costume... And in less than 5 minutes, I was sweating like a pig in the costume. Utterly no ventilation at all. And I was walking around like CP3O... much to the amusement of many around me...

Anyways, this would be the 1st in the series of my photo album posted online. Thanks, Billy!!! Next to come, The 78 Love Experiment!!!

No, that's not me when I was a wee lad...

Lil Isaac Tan

I just got got wind recently that my primary school classmate, Shiwei aka the Goyster who I haven't seen for 12 friggin' years, got married last year and boom, she has a son now. If our national productivity could be that good, we might just be able to climb outta a recession. But what'd I know? I flunked Econs in Junior College.

Anyway, without her prior permission, hehehe... here's the website created by her husband for her son, Lil Isaac Tan. The above picture was what I thought was the funniest among those they took. I think he'd grow up happy with these wacky parents of his. I dun really know her husband personally. But from the site, he seems to have a healthy sense of humour. And that always rocks in my world. And Goy always had a weird sense of humour since primary school. Mine just developed over the years from reading FHM. Hey, by the way, can I come over once to pinch his cheeks?

I just have this to say: In times like this, when there are CPF cuts and a high (unofficial) unemployment rate of 8%, etc., you get married and have kids. It's to be applauded. Go for the 3rd one, Goy and the PAP will throw in the tax rebates!!! Well, she just happens to be the 3rd friend of my age I know to be married. And she looks happily married. Perhaps, there's still something uncommercial out there called love, eh?

Share the love, maaan...

Swimming Pool

Just finished the show with Gavin and Khai. It was pretty alright. Supposedly to be an erotic thriller, according to some Yahoo reviews. I thought they only showed erotic thrillers in Yangtze cinemas. Hey, I Might Be Wrong (insert: Radiohead song riff) - end of corny Radiohead reference

Anyway, I spotted a major plot flaw in the movie. For those who haven't caught it yet, minor spoilers ahead... Well, in the scene where the nubile young French actress was in the well, swimming pool with this guy. She started blowing him and he pushed her away after a while. We concurred that was the most glaring plot flaw. I mean, how can you reject something that looks like this, blowing you?

Ludivine Sagnier
What the fuck was the scriptwriter smoking?!

But the way, Ludivine Sagnier will be starring as Tinkerbelle in the latest movie adaptation of "Peter Pan". She's definitely a belle but I wonder what she is going to tinker in the movie. (Okay, I fulfilled my corny statements quota for the night. Gonna have a stick and sleep)

P.S.: At least, I din say she can tinker my bell... Oops...

You have only 6 days left...

... to the end of the H.A.I.R. of October poll which ends on next Monday 30th. Cuz the every next day would be the 1st of the new month. Geddit?!

Anyway, for those with blogs, help me out here by advertising this. The girls might not be the happier for it. So would I. But hey, this poll has no walkover or recounting needed. After all, check out the new heading above...

And you, Gavin Chelvan, vote!!! Or no more beer drinking sessions with me!!!

Recognise me?

Unicron

I can still remember those tears welling up when I watched "Transformers: The Movie" and Optimus Prime died. Fwah... That was definitely a childhood scar.

Anyway, Billy forwarded me this article about the Unicron toy after I told him I've just downloaded the pilot of Transformers: Armada. By the way, the site contains several articles relating to the Transformer series. Well, the pilot of the new series sucked...

I've been duped...

On a lighter note, I found this article on Krypton Site:
I think it really hit me how much fetishism surrounded this character when I heard about an interview of the producers saying how Lana Lang was perfect. The vibe was further reinforced by the no. 5 moment chosen for the San Diego Comic Con panel. The clip was Lana's pool scene in Nicodemus where she does that strip tease for Clark. Interestingly enough, the close-up shots of her body weren't of Kristin Kreuk but of a body double. This made me think that in a sense Lana Lang isn't really a character at all but a projection of desire a.k.a. fetish.

Kristin Kreuk
You mean that gorgeous piece of meat ain't hers in the episode "Nicodemus"?? I've been had!!! Goddammit!!!

Youth is wasted on the young...

Just finished watching the last 3 episodes of Smallville season 2 on my comp last night. The orchestral strains of the "Theme From Superman" still haunts deep in my mind; you can almost envision Christopher Reeves taking off as Supes. And think about the unfortunate tragedy that has befallen him.

In another tragic event, one of my primary schoolmates, a brilliant academic student as well, has apparently committed suicide. He had a case of mental breakdown over studies back during the 'O' levels due to over-stress. I have no idea what drove him over the edge to such desperation but I guess it should be pretty bad. Makes you wonder what happiness really means in your life and how the quest for that blip of emotion can be skewed wrongly and horribly as well. And how the consequences of each of our actions can affect one another in a subtle or very direct manner.

Sian...

Fucken scanner, I think is not compatible with the hunk of junk that is my computer. So as usual, my evil mission to flood the internet has been laid to rest at the moment. I is not happy and giving up for the moment.

Crap... This sucks... and I managed to find a picture of Alvin before he had the dreadlocks. Who the hell could actually remember how he looked like without those dingy dreads? That photo, membersss, will remind you.

Woo hoo...

Just borrowed a scanner from Yeeyong. Hopefully, I can upload some pictures now.

When I was at his place, his Samoyed dog, Joey, cute lil pup named after the punk rocker Joey Ramone and according to his wife, Fiona after the Joey character in Friends. It's great that they have a common point. However, it wasn't great that my arse was nipped at least 10 times by the pup the whole time I was there. I know my arse is nice, supple and succulent. But that's no bloody reason to tackle my ass...

Dang... I think I need to check for bitemarks later.

Rows of houses are bearing down on me...

Holy Moly Batman!!! The 80's are back upon us again... Me and the ever-lovable Yeeyong were at the ever-efferverscent AB's new bachelor pad at Siglap last night, working out some new tune. Sounds wicked and like a Radiohead ripoff. If there's one thing I ever learn from my fellow sluts (you know yourselves!!!), once a slut, always a slut... or you can always call it referencing... But it's all good, the song that is.

After we were done, we caught a bit of MTV and saw the Darkness's "Growing On Me". Justin Hawkins' oh-so-Freddie Mercury moves, coupled with all those 80's hair-metal riffs makes it sound as if the 80's never left us. In addition, those videos... my Gawd... chekkit. It's along the lines of W.A.S.P. and Twisted Sister. Funny but there's always so much you can take. If you can find on Kazaa-lite or something, look for their cover of Radiohead's "Street Spirit (Fade Out)", done hair-metal style!!! It's rather amusing... Apparently, they take themselves rather seriously. And all this ain't a Spinal Tap send-up.

RAWK ON!!!

The Darkness

All Things Must Pass...

Like what George Harrison sang on his similarly titled album, sooner or later, everything will pass.

On Friday, a great musical legend, Johnny Cash passed away. While I'm not too familiar with his musical catalog, there are a few chestnuts and classics that deserve to be heard by all. His tune, "I Fought The Law" has always reminded me of something that the Clash did, predating the punk band a good 20 years. He has attitude and balls. In recent years, his readings of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" (featuring Red Hot Chili Pepper's John Frusciante) and Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt" were pretty excellent in their own right.

Rest in peace, the Man in Black.

Own up!!! Which one of you lil pervs voted for Stifler's Mum?!?

Yes, there was a vote for Stifler's Mum, the original M.I.L.F. (Mama I Wanna Fuck). 'Fess up... hehehe...

I went to watch (surprise surprise) Spy Kids 3D today. Eh, I've never watched a 3D movie in my life. So, this was a good way to start. Sure, it was full of cornball lines that were pretty amusing and absolutely family-oriented. But hey, I loved "Return of The Killer Tomatoes". This is kinda schizophrenic of Robert Rodriguez whose next film, "Once Upon A Time In Mexico", starring Antonio Banderas (who was in SK3D), Salma Hayek (in SK3D as well) and Johnny Depp is an absolute, over-the-top action-violence-sex-filled flick. No family values to espouse. No happy reunion endings.

Anyway, the 3D effects was pretty fun. Although at times they could be extremely disconcerting, they can be really entertaining at times. Everything in the film was pretty much tongue-in-cheek with various cameos from all the previous actors from the franchise I gathered with Elijah Wood and George Clooney as the President (sporting a pretty funny Stallone impersonation). And Clooney was in "Return of the Killer Tomatoes" before he was famous.

Truth be told, I went into the cinema pretty much excited like a kid going into the cinema for the 1st time. Well, I was a 3D film virgin.

In addition, I was mucking around with my guitar after Yeeyong left my place. I decided to deviate from the standard EADGBE tuning to an open D chord tuning. I began strumming a chord progression which had much of a country feel, due to the nature of the tuning I guess and sang a melody to it. I had to stop to laugh cuz it pretty sounded like a song a lusty coal miner would sing after getting rejected by a teenage girl. Go figure.

Well, membersss. I guess you can say today was a happy day for me.

New addition

We have a new addition to the family. We welcome Gracie's blog to be part of the link. Yay, something more for me to hog on cyberspace!!! In addition, we announce the demise of Sujin's blog. He decided not to blog anymore... for the time being.

The last poll was honestly pathetic. I wanna link the results to let u guys see it. I'm not sure if you guys can view the results. Anyway, as expected, most people (about 3) were willing to trade their inheritance for Monica Bellucci. By the way, I'm going to start a new poll soon to vote for the H.A.I.R. of October. Please spread the word and ask your Granpa and Granmas to vote as well.

American Pie

I was watching the movie again yesterday on VCD. I'd always loved the movie and of course, everybody's favourite Eastern European foreign exxxchange student, Nadia. Ah yes, the lovely Shannon Elizabeth.

Shannon Elizabeth
(I'm not sure about you guys but I see a nomination coming up)

Besides the memorable pie scene and Stiffler drinking the cup of beer with cum in it, the movie was really pretty good. Okay, it did not have much of a plot to boot. In fact, it was about the bittersweet pangs of growing up and going through rites of passages in life. However, I strongly recommend you not sleeping with your friend's mum as a rite of passage.

Well, the franchise carries on this year with the 3rd and final installment in the series. Yes, a John Hughes-inspired movie is actually made into a trilogy. Click here to visit the "American Wedding" aka "American Pie 3" website. It's been said before that a good movie franchise should be one which sequels feel like revisiting old friends and catching up on old times. I hope the last one would be good too.

Karma Sutra

Was surfing and came across this site with "Top 5 Most Effective Sexual Positions For Females" So this is for the ladies. Honestly, some of the position names are so fantastical that they sound like some carnival rides or games. I mean, dig the names like the Lusty Leapfrog and the Titillating Trapeze. If I was a kid, this must have sounded like a bloody circus to me!!!

Some changes...

Actually, I wanted to muck around with the HTML code somemore. But unfortunately, the whole thing doesn't respond very well with the changes. What the hell... So here it is, just with an additional poll.

Sucky, I know but I'd put that polling thing to good use in the future I guess. Hey, there's still some place on this planet where you can actually get to vote and your vote can actually mean something. Not in your GRC, of course.

Asian Heartbreakers

Stumbled across this site Asian Heartbreakers which is a couple of guys doing a send-up of boybands. A pretty funny joke stretched over 5 mins. That's about it.

Kinda remind of that time when Alvin, Melvin and I went to BMG to pitch them an idea for a boyband. I am still wondering til this day why we were kicked out of the office. Hmmmm....

Some good advice...

Some good advice

Hands up for those who wanna be a piece of parquet flooring right now...

Yes, I know I would. The woman featured in this month's H.A.I.R. is considered to be extremely dangerous and should be locked in my bedroom for reasons tied in with national security. Unfortunately, she happens to be VERY married. You know what they say about good women nowadays... They are either married or lesbians. Hey, in both cases, that doesn't really matter to some guys I know.

This month's choice was a very difficult one. I was at Siem Reap bar with Billy, Gavin, Aaron and their friend, Jessica. It was very heart-warming thing for me to hear that the guys (only) enjoy this blog and are frequent visitors. This only proves one thing. Sex indeed rules. I cast out a few choices and they recommended a few names such as Eva Mendes (who doesn't do it for me), Keira Knightley (She's gorgeous and has a great smile but I couldn't see her posterior in that corset in "Pirates Of The Carribean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl" very well) and Beyonce Knowles (She 's one Foxxy lady...)

In any case, I came back from a tiring jamming session today and went through some sites, like last night. Just imagine I had to peruse through all of AskMen.com's Top 99 Most Desirable Women of 2003 to get an inkling of who to choose. It's a tough and dirty job. I hope you guys can appreciate the trouble and pains I take for you all.

So there you go. H.A.I.R. of September: Monica Bellucci who is definitely hot enough to cause a surge in global warming. (Hey, I had to come out with a FHM-esque wisecrack somehow or another)

Flashback to my youth

While other guys back in their youth used to have an extremely huge crush on Wonder Woman's Lynda Carter, I had mine on The Bionic Woman's Lindsay Wagner. She had class, poise and as always, a stunning smile. Like a friend, Terence put it, "Aiyoh, the best part is when she starts running..." Of course, it wasn't Baywatch kinda running where you wear red swimming suits with all things getting jiggy with it. It was actually in fact slo-mo, trying to imply that she's actually running at like 60 miles per hour backed by tacky "bionic" sounds. Wooo, i love the show maaan... That includes The 6 Million Dollars Man as well.

Lindsay Wagner

Nice ....

Houston, we have a problem...

As this month was slightly hectic for me, I didn't really have time to peruse through women magazines and the like to look for next month's Her Ass Is Righteous recipient. The horror! To make the best out of the worst situation, I might have to use my own arse shot on the blog... Hmmm, not too tandalising eh? I thought so too.

Well, there would be some updates here and there since this is after all, the end of the month. Whaddya know, our neighbour celebrates their National Day tomm. Good luck on that!!!

Songs: Ohio "The Magnolia Electric Co." review

Well, I think I'd better leave the reviewing to folks who does it better. The following is from Keith's very periodic e-newsletter, "Destroyer". You can write to him to subscribe: spirit_anem@hotmail.com

You won't get reviews of the latest boyband albums or the Mariah Carey one. Though I suspect you might get the occasional Jennifer Love Hewitt (right on, brother!!!)...

Songs:Ohia
The Electric Magnolia Co. [Secretly Canadian]
Rating: 8.0

The bleak songwriting of Jason Molina always seems to be heavily burdened by cases and cases of unpleasant secrets and Songs:Ohia records tend to be downbeat affairs with stubborn confessionals that can become more than a little grating (refer to last years Didnt It Rain). The guy could use a break or two sometimes; hence this new album is Molina stepping out of his scary closet. The Electric Magnolia Co is his rock action, with a ten-piece band of crack musicians backing the songwriter. Of course Molina still sounds (and writes) as if hes depressed as hell, but the slack vibes of the recording (recorded by that wacko Steve Albini) is more than enough to shakes away some of the blues.

The influence of Neil Young is an obvious signpost right from the start; on opening track Farewell Transmission, epic guitar hooks (circa Youngs 1976 album Zuma) take fleet wings, while on Just Be Simple, Jim Grabowski plays the Wurlitzer piano in a manner that sounded like how the instrument sounded on Youngs On The Beach (1974). Or take the albums emotional centerpiece John Henry Split My Heart. On previous records, Molinas apoplectic ranting would have been mired in tepid balladry; the version here sport a tumbling sound charged with desperate rage. The new record also scores extra points for its country sleight of hand, with Molina dishing out gorgeous country songs like Hold On Magnolia and Peoria Lunch Box Blues, the latter featuring Scott Niblett on lead vocals. Despair and the folk blues are Molinas signature touches, but this album shows that a little countrified variety does add to the warmth of his songwriting which is not necessarily a good thing to those scary Songs:Ohia obsessives who prefer their valiant protagonist moping all the time. Too bad fellows, Jason Molina is loosening up. [Keith]

The Metrosexual Emerges...

That's it. After hanging out with DJ Keishi aka Kelvin and Jason Ong aka J.O. (sorta like J.Lo innit?), I've decided to be like them. To get my skin to be as smooth as a baby's ass. Anyway, I get free L'oreal products from Jason. Hahaha... Probably, that would include a very disciplined workout schedule to lose like around 10 kgs or so. Eh, that disciplined workout thing doesn't seem to be too fine with me...

But check me in a month's time. You never know, I might just turn out looking just like one of those faceless doodes from a Taiwanese boyband. Woo hoo...

From Wordspy.com:
metrosexual
(MET.roh.sek.shoo.ul) n. A dandyish narcissist in love with not only himself, but also his urban lifestyle; a straight man who is in touch with his feminine side.

And of course, this Salon article on metrosexuals.

At It Again...

Well, I've seen some other folks' blogs before. Either a) they are the extremely overt "I'm-suffering-oh-God-why-am-I-suffering-so?"/ "My-dog-has-died-on-me-oh-God-why-me-I-hate-the-world" kinda exhibitionistic showcase or b) the other end of the spectrum, the "I-am-an-online-Socrates-my-musings-are-philosophical-and-da-gospel-though-I-still-insist-people-should-have-their-own-thoughts-and-these-are-only-my-own-opinions".

In any case, this blog shall focus on my trials and tribulations (yes, narcissistic, so what?) and my thoughts (solipsistic, but of course). You can sue but I personally won't recommend it. So as you can gather from the previous posts, I mainly write about my first love (not beer, that's like 2nd or 3rd all-time love) music. Listening to it and playing it.

Recently, being the slack ass I am (this is the "I-hate-the-world' portion I ripped off other people's blogs, being all whiny and all), I haven't really been practising on my stuff. Then again, the hidden love for electronic based music has surfaced like Godzilla from the ocean to stomp Tokyo (thus, fulfilling the part b) portion of my 1st paragraph). I think I've been listening to too much the Postal Service. There's like a sudden influx of the bleeping (yes..bleeping) genre of electronic music called IDM or Intelligent Dance Music. Seems like an oxymoron, I know. IDM constitutes mainly of, well... bleeps and pulses that are quite unlike House or Trance that we are used to. For easier reference, check out Radiohead's "Kid A".

A drinking kaki of mine, Jason Siau has given up on his fully registered blog for a while. Hehehe, I smell an opportunity like a shark smell blood underwater. I hope that he'd let me post some pictures and mp3s, linking back to this blog. Yes, this is an open tender, my friend!

The mp3s would most likely be some of my own stuff that I do in my spare time as some of you might know and even have heard before. As I've mentioned, the recent inspiration to me is very electronic based. So, let's see what I can churn out with using my crap PCsoftware...? Henceforth, it pretty explains the Lounge Lizard moniker.

Akan datang maaan....

In a strange turn of events, I was at Max's place this afternoon. While I was hammering away at a drumkit, he was whacking out Depeche Mode's "Enjoy The Silence" Linkin Park style, complete with rapping and the soft-loud dynamics. That was really a hoot. In addition, we did a couple of covers ala The White Stripes, just guitar-and-drums. I was Meg White to his Jack White maaan... Anyway, I thought it was a riot that we started to play Spandeau Ballet's "True" and shitloads of 80's love ballads through a overdriven amplifier. Yes, we even did "Right Here Waitng". Finally, we managed to sneak out an original piece which harks back to the shoegazer era of Britpop. I think we should be polishing that one pretty soon and see what we can do with that.

Perhaps, it'd be posted here soon? I certainly hope so...

Sonic Festival 2003

Apparently, Alvin, a good friend of mine and a membersss of Spooning With Satan just asked me to lend him my 'Bread and Butter' (see below at my Guitar Gear). How can I say no to a fellow membersss? After all, he lent me his and inspired to get me my own. Guitar stompbox. that is.

Anyway, he mentioned that he was playing a gig this Sat at Sonic Fest 2003. For a moment, I thought his band, Orange was back in track. It turned out that he is sessioning for his brother, Morris' band, Seedbed which, according to the biography, a Christian band. The horror....

Then again, Alvin aka Ah-neh aka Black Jesus is a pretty devout Christian who goes to church every Sunday. Hmmm, then what the hell is he doing in something called Spooning With Satan? God only knows....

Be sure to check out the Sonic Festival site. I believe ticketing details are on it as well.

Blog under reconstruction...

I've added a few new features now and then to this blog. Please comment if they make the blog less wieldy than before, i.e. if these changes cause you to be unable to load the page, any links not working or in general, anything which is not working straight...

Thanks. Appreciate it.

I'm trying to put some pictures of The 78 Love Experiment playing in the NUS Law Moot Court in April. All, hopefully within this week or set up yet another blog for the band until we register the name as a domain name or something.

What is The 78 Love Experiment?

Back in 1996, there was a bunch of young teenagers who happened to be in the same JC. Hey, our future PM happens to be their alma mata. I wonder if he would endorse this bunch of juvenile delinquents. I doubt so. Anyway, these kids were restless and reckless. Hyperactive minds, the whole bunch. Mainly self-indulgent wankers and proud to be so as well.

As most misguided teens do, they have nothing better to do, except to skip school. There are only so many teenage girls to ogle in Orchard Road. So, 3 little pigs decided to start playing in a musical ensemble or otherwise, known in post-modern terms,a rock band. Decidedly very loud and un-decidely often out-of-tune and out-of-time. When they congregated on a love of what was popular back in the mid 90's such as Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, you know the grunge stuff. Mainly, Nirvana though. Teenage angst was rearing its ugly head back then as much as the hormonal urge to get some head as well.

Due to a self-engineered act of over-indulgence, one of them which we shall name as Willy organised a so-called ARTS Fest in his JC for the Art Club to generate so-called funds. Actually, it was a cover-up to allow an extremely raw and untalented band to perform live. What the hell, they even managed to con two of their friends, AB and Andy to join them to embarrass themselves publicly. Those two were smokers, so they gotta be cool maaan. Which they still are, despite what the Government says about smoking. Bah! Plus, Andy is Malaysian. Don't say these entreprising teenagers didn't know how to recognise foreign talent.

They named themselves The Corinthian Frets. After a few weeks, they decided to drop the 'Frets', just The Corinthian. The idea came from the wildly popular Sandman comic book series which had an eyeball eating demon named The Corinthian (what else?) and most probably, some deeply buried Catholic guilt. As with 99% of all bands, they had their internal clashes with ego problems. That was even before they achieved the sucess and drugs and groupies! Some people are just fast developers. Coupled with the state phenomenon called National Service, the whole band thing was just simply buried and cast away like a high school yearbook.

Over the next few years, they have all grown into young adults. One of them, Yeeyong, according to what his parents call him, was studying in Melbourne, Australia. One day, he received a phone call from Singapore. His old bandmates were entering the studios to record a demo. How amazing!!How thrilling!! How fuckin' pissed he was for not being there at all. What could have resurrected the old corpse of wild teenage fantasies of making the world a better place through music?

Strangely, the whole band reconvened under the most unlikely circumstances. Willy's mate, Billy Tan who was a NTU Communication Studies student had some free studio time as he was doing a course module that required him to record a band. Yet, in an act of self-indulgence again, Willy thought that he'd rather benefit himself than others. So, he called up some old mates (yes, you know who) and they were all raring to do it, with the exception of Yeeyong who was still stuck in Kangaroo Land.

When Yeeyong was back in Singapore for good, the little tribe of alpha males were back in swing. Since it was a new beginning, a new name was in order. Should they call themselves The Shoplifters' Union after a song written by one of their collective influences, The Smiths and a past favourite hobby of theirs? Or what about The Innkeepers after AB's friend's mispronounciation of American rock band, Incubus? Or simply just Everything Is Willy's Guitar (don't ask, the story is too long to explain)?

Finally, Weiyuan who was recently married suggested The 78 Love Experiment. He explained all the five ex-delinquents were born in 1978 due to "experiments of love conducted by our parents" while giggling like a Japanese schoolgirl. He is most probably conducting some love experiments with his wife right now. In any case, the name was unanimously agreed upon by all the rest even though running the risk of being mistaken as a hippie band.

The future looks bright and hopeful for this group of ex-miscreants who finally has their focus right. "We were young back then," the band was quoted to have said. "Now, we know exactly what we want, in this particular order as well. Fame, groupies and our own 12" action figures by McFarlane Toys". Talk about ambition and knowing what you want!

The 78 Love Experiment is Abdul Basheer, Andy Tay, Seng Wei Yuan, Willy Tan and Yeeyong.

It's been a slow day...

Yup, time is dragging its slow feet for me in the office.

Going to watch "Secretary" later. Read about it earlier this year. Seemed pretty funny. Hopefully, it'd be funny too...

Hiding in a bloody cubicle now, pretending to do some work as well. Well, I did finish some stuff. So I'm absolved of guilt for the moment. Hehehe...

My friend, Daphne's sister, Desiree just invited me to her 21st birthday celebration party this Sat. Man, it's been eons since I smelt the good side of 20. *cough cough* Getting on in my years now... What am I going to do with a bunch of nubile young chicks running all over the place? It's probably good that the man-whore himself, Clement is going to be there to pull something funny and get drunk at the same time! Ha!

Stepping down...

Since all local channels are showing National Day Rally speech, I just watched a bit of it.

Our PM, Goh Chok Tong has just named his successor, DPM Lee Hsien Loong. Well, the last time I checked with my bookie. The odds that he would succeed is 1 pay 0.000001. There you go. Nothing surprising. However, the twist is that he wants to give the new PM 2 years to establish himself before the next General Walkover... ahem I mean, the General Elections. That'd mean that he would step down next year! Highly surprising...

Well, his main focus would be to revive the economy. If you ask me, he'd better step on it...

So far, I don't think there was any mention of stayers and quitters this year. Heheheh...

When they come, where are you going to hide?

Mars Attacks!!!

Would they look like this when August 27 approaches?

Or would they look like this?

My Favourite Martian

I'm waiting with abated breath...

And yes, with Mars' orbit so near to Earth after 50,000 (?) years, it is indeed the end of the world soon...
Brace yourself for Armageddon.

Mars Attacks!!!

I really doubt any bomb shelters are going to be of any help when we are going up against such advanced technology.

Star Wars Kid

This is the sequel... as in real life, it often involves a lawsuit. If you can't sue a minor, go for the parents. Hey, they must have the money right?

The parents of the infamous "Star Wars Kid" are suing classmates who posted a humiliating video of their son on the Net, according to Canada's Globe and Mail.

Quebec teenager Ghyslian Raza was the target of worldwide mockery when a private video he made of himself practicing his lightsaber moves was uploaded to the Net by kids at his school.

Now his parents are claiming damages of $160,000 from the families of the four classmates who digitized and published the video. Ghyslain's parents claim their son was so humiliated, he is undergoing psychiatric care and may be marked for life by the experience.

Now his parents are claiming damages of $160,000 from the families of the four classmates who digitized and published the video. Ghyslain's parents claim their son was so humiliated, he is undergoing psychiatric care and may be marked for life by the experience.

Ghyslain's video was posted to the Kazaa file-sharing network in the spring.

The two-minute video shows an overweight teenager fighting a mock battle with a golf-ball retriever doubling as a lightsaber. The teenager twirls the "lightsaber" ever more energetically while generating his own sound effects. It is obviously not for public consumption.

Ghyslain was so teased about the video, he dropped out of school and finished the semester at a children's psychiatric ward, according to a lawsuit filed in the Raza's hometown of Trois-Rivires, Quebec.

According to the suit, "Ghyslain had to endure, and still endures today, harassment and derision from his high-school mates and the public at large." He "will be under psychiatric care for an indefinite amount of time."

The suit suggests that the ordeal may cause Ghyslain to be labeled as "mentally ill," and the stigma could make it difficult for him to enroll in school or get a job, and may force him to change his name.

Ghyslain's story was reported by media outlets internationally. Angered at the cruel remarks made about Ghyslain online, a pair of webloggers raised money to buy the teenager an Apple iPod.

Andy Baio of Waxy.org and Jish Mukerji of Jish.nu raised more than $4,300 from 421 separate donations.

"The outpouring of support has been staggering, far beyond what I ever expected," wrote Baio on his site. "Geeks like us need to stick together."

A petition to get Ghyslain a part in the next Star Wars movie has been signed by more than 16,000 people.

None of the parties involved in the suit are speaking to reporters, according to the Globe and Mail. Wired News was unable to contact the Razas' lawyer for comment.

So there.

Dammit...Where's my Mars?!?!

Recently, it has been raining here and has been real cloudy at nights as well. Goddammit, how can I see Mars like that?

Anyway, Graham jio-ed me to go watch Mars at Larbador Park on the 27th with Derrick. Man, 3 grown men with a coupla beers watching the Red Planet. How more romantic can you get?

Happy National Day...

Anyway, I found this Star Wars website that is pretty fun, http://www.jedimaster.net/ with tons of clone videos of this kid that has taped himself re-enacting scenes from Star Wars.

The Star Wars Kid was just goofing off at school. Now he finds his private performance downloaded by over 10 million Internet users across the world.

The Star Wars Kid is a 15-year-old from Quebec known only as Ghyslain -- his parents are keeping his last name secret to protect his identity. Back in November 2002, Ghyslain was goofing off at a school video studio and recorded himself fighting a mock battle with a broomstick lightsaber. Over two minutes, the video shows the lone, overweight teenager twirling his mock lightsaber ever faster while making his own accompanying sound effects.

Yes, we've all had our dorky, private moments, but this poor kid is living the nightmare of having his private dorkiness projected across the world to giggling Web users. His friends found the tape, and uploaded it to KaZaA as a joke on April 19. Within two weeks, someone had added full Star Wars special effects and noises to the tape, and the video was linked on gaming, technology, and Star Wars-related sites across the Internet.

Currently There Are 56 Clone Videos.
6 more in the making!

Hehehe, ought to be funny...

Pre-long weekend blues

Wah lan eh...

As some of you out there might know, I'm currently working in an IT e-learning company which does educational software for primary schools. Well, they have a sports branch as well. My God, I just heard from my colleague that we have a bloody company Sports Day tommorrow at Sentosa. Fwah lan eh... It's really like going back to school maaaan.

I'd probably stick out like a Texan conservative redneck in a gay bar.

New H.A.I.R. for August

Yup, there's a new crowned HAIR of the month.

Recently, I've been pretty tired from work and have not been a) playing my guitar, b) playing with my Cakewalk and Fruity Loops sequencer and lastly, c) updating this blog. There have been some subtle changes here and there. But everything else is still in the works, I guess.

In case, you are wondering who Josie Maran is. For the female readers, it shouldn't be much of a problem. You all would definitely recognise her. For the men, start hanging around the comestics department more often. She's the Maybelline model. Anyway, Jason aka Ong, where is my life size poster of Josie Maran that you are supposed to steal from the L'oreal office to give me?!?!

Thanks to my members who sent in their nominations. But this is, after all, my blog and I'm KING here!!! If you think me as despotic and fascist. My middle name is tyranny. Just call me Willy "Saddam/ Pol Pot/ Almost all other American Presidents since WW2, especially the current one" Tan.
